About DesJarlais Farms & Winery
DesJarlais Farms is in the heart of Sturgis, SD. Our family has been on the property since 1938. Our grandfather, Joseph Henry, planted Concord grapes in the early 40s that still produce a wine we call legacy red. The 3rd and 4th generations planted a new vineyard in 2012 using the northern cold climate grapes developed by the University of Minnesota, including over 400 grape vines with ten different varietals. The property also boasts a small orchard, rhubarb, and berries that help produce all our country wines. Our backyard is also host to Honeybees, which allows us to offer a wide variety of products to sell to the public.
We are open to the public from June to September. Tastings and tours can be reserved by appointment only during these months.
Our mission is to fill a void in the northern Black Hills for a local Boutique Winery that produces hand-crafted wine made from all South Dakota-grown produce.
Our beautiful backyard has been turned into a unique place for folks who want to stay in one of our Lodge-type buildings or enjoy camping in a quiet setting.
